Audience: Supplier

There are times where you need to remove an item from your inventory. However, the platform doesn’t allow you to delete items from your inventory, especially if those items have already been ordered previously. The solution highlighted below will help you hide the items without actually deleting that item from your inventory. You can upload a series of CSV documents that can set the Status of the inventory to hidden

Step 1: Click the navigation menu and select Workflows > Inventory.

Step 2: The Inventory page is displayed with a list of all your SKUs. Click Download All Results at the top of the page.

Step 3: In the Inventory Download All Results pop-up, complete the following:

  • Select Inventory.
  • Select XLSX or CSV.
  • Select Requested Locale(s) or Requested Currency(s), as needed.
  • Select Only include changes since the last successful export, as needed.

Click Export.

Step 4: Open the newly downloaded file and edit it using Excel or another spreadsheet program. You may need to go to the Downloads folder on your computer to find the file. The file you will want to open uses this filename structure: Dsco_Inventory_YYYYMMDDSS.csv

When opened, it should look something like the spreadsheet below:

Make sure you completely delete all unused columns from the report. Removing those extra columns helps ensure that only the data you're attempting to change is actually updated.

Step 5: Use the text string “null” to remove all data in the upc, ean, partner_sku, and partner_sku_map columns.

Step 6: Change the values in the quantity_available and warehouse_quantity fields (if populated) to 0 for all items.

Step 7: Change the status column for all items to out-of-stock.

Be sure to include the hyphens in out-of-stockIf you don't, the upload will fail.

The video below shows how to edit your Inventory Report. Make sure that you save the file as a .csv filetype.

Step 8: When finished, save the file.

Step 9: Return to the Inventory page in the platform. Click the navigation menu and select Workflows > Inventory.

Step 10:  On the Inventory page, click Upload File at the top of the page.

Step 11: On the Upload Inventory page, select the Comma file format, click Choose File, and follow the instructions to upload the file from Step 8. Click Inventory to upload the file.

Step 12: Click View Upload Progress to check on the status of your file upload. The link will redirect you to the Automation History page.

Step 13: Check the progress of the upload. The top row of the table on that page should be the upload process you just initiated. The Job Name is Dsco Catalog Upload.

When the status of the job is Finished that means the file has been uploaded and the inventory has been updated. You may need to refresh the page multiple times to see the status update to Finished.

You can also click Finished to go to the logs page for that process. This can be helpful if there are failures that occurred during the process.

Step 14: Return to the Inventory page to review your changes. You will see that the items were updated to have 0 quantity and are listed as out-of-stock.

Step 15: Back on your inventory report, change the status values for all items to hidden and save the file.

Step 16: Repeat steps 10-13 to upload the file into the platform.

Once the file has finished processing, you can view your inventory by going to the Inventory page, and see that the items have been updated to have a hidden status.

This process is necessary to make sure that the platform does not detect any UPCs, Partner SKUs, or other identifiers as duplicates when you attempt to create new inventory. Once the process is complete, you will be able to update/create inventory items using that old information and you will not have any failures. This process also removes the items from being viewable by your retailer. Please note however, this will take some time to fall off retailer inventory feeds. It will normally show up as 'discontinued' for retailer for 7 days based on date/time of Hidden status update.
