Audience: Suppliers
Private Marketplaces are retailer-operated marketplaces with a bundle of features that retailers can configure to create and support a variety of unowned inventory models for different segments of their supplier base.
Participating in a retailer’s Private Marketplace program gives you the flexibility and control to:
- Define product content.
- Manage product pricing.
- Control shipping costs and where you ship to.
Note: Not every retail trading partner participates in Private Marketplace, which is different from the drop-ship program.
Private Marketplace benefits
As a supplier on a retailer’s Private Marketplace, you will have these benefits:
- Expanded product assortment: You are not as restricted with product listings as you are in a drop-ship program, and can list a much larger assortment with the retailer.
- Selling commissions are tied to listing prices: Marketplace commission dollars are variable and depend on the selling price of the item. This drives an overall lower cost to do business over traditional wholesale drop-ship selling models.
- Increased visibility on top retailers’ websites: Getting more of your products on a retailer's website will help your brand recognition and increase overall visibility to the end consumer.
- Control of item listing price and promotions: You are able to control the listing price of your items, as well as promotional prices.
- Ability to leverage retailers’ existing website buyer traffic: You can leverage the consumer traffic that is already coming in to a retailer's website. These consumers are used to shopping on the site, and the next time they search for a product, it could be your items that come up.
- Ability to leverage retailers’ marketing of products: Retailers already use marketing campaigns to draw in new consumers or to get existing consumers to come back more frequently. On the retailer's marketplace, you will benefit from this general marketing.
- More control of product data: You are in control of your product data. Good product data directly correlates to increased sales.
