The main purpose of the Ship Mapping tool in Dsco is to allow suppliers and retailers the ability to use their own service level codes when sending and receiving order shipment information. Using this tool, you can specify the carriers, methods, and codes you currently use within your system and map those to the Standard Dsco carriers, methods, and codes.

For example, if you use an internal service level code of UPSN_CG to refer to “UPS Ground” then you can map that code to the Standard Dsco code of ‘UPCG’. By doing so, you will continue to send/receive your code (UPSN_CG) and Dsco will recognize that code as “UPS Ground”.

Note: What you set for your ship mapping only applies to your account, and it will not be applied to what is sent to your trading partners. They are able to set up their own ship mapping.

To set up your ship mapping as a retailer, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Log into your Dsco account.

Step 2: Hover over your account name at the top-right of the page, select Settings, and then select SHIP MAPPING in the grey sub-navigation bar.

Step 3: For any carrier/method combination you wish to utilize, select the checkbox under the Enable column. If you wish to disable a ship mapping at any time, simply deselect the Enable checkbox. 

This will control what ship carrier/method options your trading partner will see within the portal if manually handling order updates.

Step 4: Next, select the checkbox under the Customize column. Once selected, three text fields appear under the Carrier, Method, and Service Code columns. Here, you will setup the mappings as shown within your system.

Step 5: The green checkmark will show next to those carrier/methods supported by Dsco’s Shipping Science tool.

Step 6: Lastly, we recommend you do a quick review of all your changes and then save.

Unknown Ship Mapping

At the bottom of the Ship Mapping page, Dsco now offers a way for you to map unknown shipping carrier, method, and service level code information coming in from your trading partner.

For example: All of your ship mapping preferences are set and your trading partner sends you an unknown service level code of ‘SUN’. This code does not exist in your shipping mapping preferences today. How do you handle this?

The Unknown Ship Mapping tool allows you to choose from two options:

  1. You can continue to pass through the information your trading partner is sending. Using the example above, the service level code of ‘SUN’ would simply pass through to your system.

  2. You can specify the value you want to receive for ANY unrecognized carrier, method, and/or service level code your trading partners send you.

By choosing the second option, you will need to specify the carrier/method combo, and/or service level code you would like to receive in the future.

If you edit this to UNK, Unknown, Unknown (as shown below) - then in the future, you will receive this code for ANY unknown carrier/method and/or service level code.
