Using the standard inventory template and uploading it to the web application is the fastest way to create a lot of SKUs quickly. Simply download the template, enter your SKU information, and then upload the file to the web application.
Want to see a walkthrough of how to upload SKUs via Excel spreadsheet? Click the ? icon in the top-right corner of the page to click through the steps directly in the web application.
Note: The basic catalog/inventory templates found on the Inventory page described below are not specific to a category and does not reflect any retailer rules or requirements. These catalog/inventory templates are different from the advanced catalog templates found on the Products page, which are created by a retailer using advanced catalog services and reflect the retailer’s unique requirements for each product category. For more information about uploading advanced catalog templates using the Products page, see Uploading products.
Step 1: Click the navigation menu and select Workflows > Inventory. The Inventory page is displayed.
Step 2: Click Upload File at the top of the page. The Upload Inventory page is displayed with a list of available file types and downloadable templates.
Step 3: From the Standard Templates section, click the desired Excel template, choose a file format, and then click Download.
Note: Both the Inventory Excel Template and Catalog Excel Template can be used for your item information, but Inventory provides the narrowest set of data and Catalog provides the widest set of data. For example, the narrow Inventory template can be used to enter essential item details such as quantity or the status, and the wider Catalog template can be used to enter extra details such as warehouse location or handling cost.
Step 4: Populate the file with your inventory SKU information. Here's some additional information about the spreadsheet:
- Light Green attributes are required.
- Light Blue attributes are recommended.
- White attributes are optional and can be used if you'd like to store additional information about the SKU. If you provide data for these fields, the data will be validated to meet Rithum's system requirements. See Data Schema for more information about field definitions and requirements.
Tip: Adding images to your SKUs? Be sure every SKU includes at least one image URL. Make sure that either all rows are complete in the "image_reference" columns or completely remove the "image_reference" columns from the spreadsheet. Remove all unused columns from the spreadsheet. See Working with product images for more image guidelines.
Step 5: When finished, save the file.
Step 6: Return to the Inventory page by clicking the navigation menu and selecting Workflows > Inventory.
Step 7: Click Upload File at the top of the Inventory page. The Upload Inventory page is displayed.
Step 8: Click Choose File and follow the instructions to upload the file from Step 5.
Step 9: Click Inventory or Catalog to upload the file to the platform.
Step 10: A status message is displayed at the top of the page. Your inventory data should appear in the Inventory page within a couple of minutes.
Note: If your inventory data does not appear within a few minutes, review the logs for all of your jobs. See Checking your job history for more information about reviewing process logs.
