Audience: Retailers
The automatic inventory hold feature allows the platform to detect oversell events and then automatically place an item on hold for a designated amount of time. An oversell event is when a supplier cancels a line item of an order with an “out of stock” reason, but the item has a positive quantity when the order was created.
Here are some guidelines for using automatic inventory hold:
- The retailer is responsible for enabling or disabling the feature.
- When enabled, the inventory hold is applied to your entire supplier network. However, you may disable inventory hold for individual suppliers as needed.
- You may remove the inventory hold on a select item before the designated time ends. See Manually ending an inventory hold.
- When an item is placed on hold, your suppliers will receive an email notification with details about the hold.
- This feature is different from manually placing inventory on hold, which is placing a hold on individual items as needed. See Manually starting an inventory hold.
Important: We highly recommend that you notify your suppliers that this feature has been enabled and that their inventory items may be put on hold when an oversell event is detected.
